Warehouse Operations – Order Puller

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary/objective: The Warehouse Associate is responsible for accurate order selection, freight handling, dock operations, inventory control, and safe equipment operation within a temperature-controlled warehouse environment. This role ensures products are received, stored, staged, and shipped accurately while maintaining safety, quality, and operation efficiency standards. Associate problem-solves, keeping operations on schedule, communicates with personnel and management to provide exceptional customer service, and build a workplace culture of excellence.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Order Selection & Inventory – Accurately review and manage pick tickets and manifests. Pull food products (dry, refrigerated, and frozen) according to item number, size, and quantity. Verify order accuracy using RF scanners and manifests. Stage and shrink-wrap product for delivery. Conduct dock checks on all cross-dock orders. Participate in physical inventories as assigned. Ensure proper lot rotation and product placement. Utilize warehouse systems for documentation and inventory accuracy.

Dock & Freight Operations – Load and unload freight safely and efficiently. Inspect freight for shortages, damage, and accuracy against manifests. Record and report overages, shortages, and damages (OS&D). Maintain proper trailer temperatures and pre-cooling procedures. Pulp temperature products to verify compliance with customer requirements. Ensure proper labeling, stacking, and securement of freight. Attach and verify Bills of Lading (BOLs) and required documentation. Install protective devices (bracing, padding, strapping) as needed.

Equipment & Safety – Operate forklifts (sit-down, stand-up, reach), pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely. Perform daily equipment checks and report malfunctions immediately. Charge forklift batteries as required. Maintain compliance with OSHA and company safety standards. Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work environment (“clean as you go”). Assist in maintaining warehouse security. Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Work Environment

• Temperature-controlled warehouse environment ranging from approximately 35°F to -20°F (proper protective gear provided)
• Regular exposure to moving machinery, cold temperatures, and moderate to loud noise
• Required use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Physical Demands Note: the physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds independently and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Stand, walk, bend, squat, and perform repetitive movements for extended periods
• Ability to remain standing for periods exceeding 60 minutes
• Frequent use of hands, fingers, and material handling equipment
• Specific vision abilities required include close vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus

Required Education & Experience

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience
• Minimum 1-2 years forklift and dock experience in a freight or warehouse environment

Preferred Education & Experience

• Experience working in a cold storage or temperature-controlled warehouse

Must be at least 18 years old; be able to show proof of eligibility to work in USA, Pass Drug Test, & Physical Abilities Test.
