JOB SUMMARY:
The Logistics Specialist plays a critical role in coordinating freight movement, optimizing transportation efficiency, and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction. This position works closely with customers, and internal teams to manage shipments and resolve issues in a fast-paced environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
- Analyzes and develops contractual commitments, customer specification and other data to plan transportation activities.
- Builds customer relationships over the telephone or by email. Writes up the orders and enters data into the computer.
- Coordinates and evaluates program activities designed to provide customers with transportation services.
- Negotiates and sets up rates with customers that are comparable and profitable.
- Develops and expands customer base to meet with projected growth and goals.
- Manages customer affairs including files, sales reports, rate quotations and all correspondence.
- Looks for trucks to match with loads. Make sure trucks assigned can handle customer’s needs.
- Emails carriers load confirmation.
- Coordinates drivers with customers in receiving and pick up with appointments, directions, and information on loads.
- Manages loads from pick up to delivery. Fills out update forms for customers on status of loads. Completes follow-up responsibilities.
- Oversees completion of paperwork for billing and audits freight bills to ensure correct customer billing.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2 – 4 years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to properly direct and instruct in detailed manner as to make sure no misunderstandings regarding time frame in which all aspects of each task is completed.
- Must be computer literate and possess the ability to manage all functions mentioned in this job description on the company’s computer system.
PAY RANGE:
$42,000 – $54,000 per year, DOE, + BONUS
