Job Overview
The OTR Refrigerated Dispatcher is responsible for planning and coordinating refrigerated truck in the Northwestern US and other areas. This role ensures safe, efficient, and profitable movement of refrigerated freight while maintaining on-time performance, supporting drivers, and providing exceptional customer service.
Key Responsibilities
- Dispatch and coordinate refrigerated freight pickups and deliveries.
- Plan and dispatch inbound and outbound refrigerated freight routes.
- Create and maintain weekly outbound and daily inbound manifests.
- Monitor driver schedules, Hours of Service (HOS), weather, road conditions, and freight temperature status.
- Identify and resolve operational issues to maintain service levels and customer satisfaction.
- Optimize truck productivity, route efficiency, and profitability.
- Ensure compliance with DOT, FMCSA, food safety, and company policies.
- Communicate regularly with drivers, customers, warehouse personnel, and management.
- Build positive working relationships with drivers and support their success and safety.
- Utilize transportation software, telematics, GPS tracking, and dispatch systems to monitor operations and performance.
- Resolve service disruptions, equipment issues, and scheduling conflicts.
- Monitor temperature-sensitive shipments and maintain cold chain integrity.
Qualifications
Preferred Experience
- 2+ years of experience in refrigerated transportation or trucking operations.
- Experience with dispatching, route planning, and driver management.
- Knowledge of DOT regulations, FMCSA compliance, and Hours of Service requirements.
- Experience with transportation management systems (TMS), satellite tracking, telematics, and dispatch software.
- Understanding food safety regulations and refrigerated freight operations.
- Ability to analyze operational data and develop practical solutions, work effectively in a fast-paced environment, and manage changing priorities.
